Did you know….?? Gas oil

Gas oil: did you know….?? Gas oils (gas oil as a refinery term) are used as feedstock for secondary cracking processes, as a domestic or industrial heating oil, fuel for diesel engines or as a blending component for residual fuel oil (HFO).

Gas oil does not require much processing

Normally, gas oil does not require extensive processing except for the reduction of sulphur content. Next to the reduction in sulphur content, oxygen and nitrogen compounds are also removed.

Automotive diesel may contain up to 7 % biodiesel

Automotive gas oil (diesel oil) En 590 may contain up to 7 % biodiesel, or FAME. Biodiesel is in principle an AGO or diesel fuel like ‘regular diesel’. Biodiesel can be made from vegetable, animal or used cooking oils and fats (UCO). However: straight vegetable oils biodiesel is useless due to its high viscosity and density and therefore will have to undergo a conversion (transesterification) process to improve the characteristics.
